David Tua
David Tua V Monte Barrett at Tropicana in ATL NJ USA

Lady luck smiled on David Tua as an incredible result which no one expected unfolded-- with it only being a whisker or so to being the mother of all upsets. Monte Barrett who dropped a desperate Tua looking for KO became the first fighter in the history of boxing to deck the Kiwi heavy weight who lost the final round 10-7 but hung on to earn a majority draw. In what was a controversial and contentious decision at best: Barrett gave it his all and seemingly had the bout in his bag until the result was announced, sparking boos and barks from his local fan base.

The 18 to 1 under dog who announced his retirment signed off in style and some would consider him very unlucky with being so close but not quite the cigar. A draw was a saving grace result for Tua who has some serious questions to answer about his jaded performance but may keep him in the hunt for higher glory......
